Cordelia Whistledown (born Nerina Aidonis) is a former courtesean of the Muse House and second daughter of Madam Eunice and the Earl of Bessborough. She is also the younger sister of Portia Ponsonby.

History

Different from Portia, Cordelia was born and raised in Mayfair. She was the second affair baby of Eunice and the Earl of Bessborough. She had never met her father, being raised by her mother and following her steps in becoming a courtesean.

Even with missing half of her origins, Cordelia had never let it drown her energy. She was famous and popular around clients due to her high entertainment level and easy conversations. She was the first courtesean to receive the title of Princess, along with two other ones, the old generation of Princesses of the Muse House.

When Portia came back pregnant with the twins, they sparked a closer sister bond, finally meeting each other. And when she had to leave back to the Royal Court, Cordelia promised to take care of her daughters, being a wet nurse and basically a mother during their first years there.

Close to five years ago, Cordelia was manipulated into having an affair with a member of the Highest Ton. Jack Featherington went there, drunk, to drown his woes of unrequited obsession in the arms of a random courtesean. However, when he saw Cordelia and her resemblance to the woman he was in love with, he decided that he would make her his. He eased his way into Cordelia's trust, only to discard her when it was convenient.

A few weeks after their last encounter, Cordelia realised she was sick and her disease was spreading, forcing her to retire as a courtesean, and as time went by, she became less and less sparkly like everyone was used to, to the point where she had to become hidden in a small room, in bed, so the consequences of that relationship could not be noticed.

Slowlly, she is deteriorating, even if she still feels grateful for the presence of her nieces.

Personality

Cordelia was raised to become a master in entertainment, receiving all different art lessons from her veteran courteseans and her mother. She is known to be charismatic and charming, having a huge popularity between the most loyal costumers. Cordelia is a sweet and kind girl. The happiness bubbled from Cordelia and she was socially eloquent like it was as easy as breathing.

She was responsible for much of the current reputation the brothel owns, and so she is respected by everyone inside it even with her current health and difficulties. Cordelia is not someone who schemes, but more often than not, she snatched much more money from the clients using her charm, to her mother's glee.

Relationships

ROMANTIC

                Jack Featherington

Cordelia's former lover. He came to the Muse House to wet his oats with a courtesean after being rejected time and time again for the one he allegedly loved. Taking pity thinking he was merely a romantic man who was unlucky with ladies, she agreed to become his client after he told her about her resemblence to the lady. It was only after he discarded her complaining about how she wasn't enough to satisfy him anymore that she found out his real name, and how he was a pain for her sister's life. As a revenge, Cordelia told everything she knew to Archibald Featherington, hoping it did the man some damage.

FAMILIAL

                Eunice Whistledown — Madam Eunice

Cordelia's mother. Being the only family she knew, Cordelia was really close to her mother. She was her champion, her teacher and her family. The admiration made her become a courtesean, and although her end did not became so happy recently, she is still attached to her mother, more than she is to anyone else.

                Portia Ponsonby — Dame Portia

She is Cordelia's older sister. Prior to her pregnancy of the twins, Portia had no idea of her existence, but decided to keep her a secret from her father at her mother's request. Though reluctant at first, they sparked a somewhat close friendship, exchanging letters in the first years that Portia couldn't be close to them in Mayfair. Years later, she revenged her sister by making her ex-lover find out about the obsession his bother sparked for her. Portia discovered it and thanked her for making the weirdo step back from her.

                Penelope Whistledown — Dame Penelope

She is Cordelia's older twin niece. The first years, before she met Phillip and was eventually adopted by Soma, Cordelia and the other courteseans were the ones raising her, becoming a wet nurse to Penelope and Felicity due to her ability of producing milk even outside pregnancy. As the closest thing they had as mother for many years, Cordelia is appreciated by both twins.

Felicity Whistledown — The Third Princess, Macaria

Cordelia's younger twin niece. Although Penelope was adopted when a child, Felicity stayed in Muse House and was closer to Cordelia, hence why their personalities match so much. Felicity had seen the man that left her aunt/mother this way, even though she had never been able to find out his identity. All that she knows is that, if she ever seen him again, she would make sure he would regret doing her harm.

FRIENDSHIPS

Prudence Whistledown — The First Princess, Iliana

One of the courteseans that work for Madam Eunice and basically an adopted sister. Prudence showed up at the Muse House when Cordelia was seventeen years old and getting ready to start as a courtesean, saying she was running from a worse faith Eunice took her in, raised her to become a courtesean and treated her like a daughter, just like the others. Nobody knows from what Prudence was running from, but her origins didn't matter anyway, not relevant for Cordelia to like her and become her friend.

Philippa Whistledown — The Second Princess, Thisbe

Daughter of a former courtesean, Cordelia saw Philippa being born and she helped in raising her as well. Philippa and her are really close, becoming the closest friends. The three of them became the first Three Princesses of the Muse House, before Cordelia had to retire and was replaced with Felicity. Still, Philippa helps Penelope and Felicity in taking care of Cordelia, sometimes keeping her updated about what is the hottest gossip around the Entertainment House.
