Charlotte of Mackenburg-Strelitz is the current Queen of England. She is great-aunt to the current heir, Augustus Basset, as well as aunt to the current leader of Prussia, Prince Friedrich. Her husband, George III, is the current King of England.
History
Charlotte, before her marriage, was a princess to the kingdom of Germania. However, her arrenged marriage to the King of England that's started as a mere negotiation, turned into a beautiful love story. However, their love's been doomed to not prosper, as she's been having difficulties to have children since their union. Charlotte, then, decided to stop trying and named her nephew's future son, Augustus Basset, as the next in line to become the King.
Personality
Charlotte has always been ambitious and certain of everything. She is known for her strong personality and her quiet strength, even if she knows that she's not as strong as people think her to be. Charlotte is a great fan of the gossip columns that's been growing recently, especially the ones that expose gossip with a sordid detail to give her even more information on someone.
When Lady Whistledown came to be, she quickly became its greatest fan, a little too obssessive even for a Queen, perhaps.
Relationships
ROMANTIC
George of Whales III — King of England
Charlotte met George only on their wedding day. And, although she tried to escape, he says that's the moment he fell in love with her. Before their marriage became a true love story, it was arranged for political reasons. Charlotte and George III tried to have children, but they were either miscarried or born dead.
FAMILIAL
Adolphus Basset — Former Grand Duke of Hastings
Charlotte's late older brother. He was the one responsible for arranging her marriage to George III, in exchange for a higher rank title for himself. He wasn't the best of men, but he wasn't the worst of brothers as well. Charlotte is fairly aware of how distant of a father he was and how much he mourned his late wife, Sarah, but she's always been too occuppied with royal problems to intervene.
Simon Basset — Grand Duke of Hastings
Charlotte's nephew. Charlotte is the sister of his late father, and she's been showing her support in his line succeeding the throne. She wasn't an extremely affectionate member of the family, but Simon suspects that it's because she's been deppressed for her lack of success in siring an heir.
Prince Friedrich — Prince of Prussia
Charlotte's nephew through George III. Although clearly older than Augustus, Friedrich was not considered a choice to heir the throne, but it is mostly because of his parents. Charlotte does not trust them, and therefore George III also does not trust them. Thankfully, Prince Friedrich seems not to be bothered by the choice.
FRIENDSHIPS
Araminta Cowper — Dame Araminta
Charlotte's head Dame of Court and closest friend. She became very thankful to the Countess once she found out the betrayal of one of her previous Dames, one who's been secretly poisoning her in order to ruin the Crown. Now, Araminta is her closest confidante, her right hand.
Violet Bridgerton — Dowager Viscountess Bridgerton
Charlotte's Dame of Court and friend. They met once her nephew became engaged to Violet's eldest daughter, and since Charlotte had a spot available, she turned the Dowager Viscountess into a Dame of Court.
Portia Ponsonby — Dame Portia
Charlotte's Dame of Court. She is the youngest person to become a Dame of Court of the Queen, at only twenty years old. Portia is social eloquent and have the grace Charlotte searches for when in a ball, so she's considered a high class Dame of Court as well. So much so that Portia is a strong choice to become the next Head of the Dames.
Mary Sharma — Dame Mary
Charlotte's Dame of Court. Mary is the daughter of an Earl, but she ran away with a widowed lord, though a Baron, and even though her parents' didn't like the union, Charlotte gave her blessing to the couple, resulting in a beautiful lady, Edwina, who's about to debut and it's guaranteed to be Charlotte's favorite debutante.
Virginia Smythe-Smith — Countess of Winstead
Charlotte's Dame of Court and one of her oldest friends. Virginia has the life Charlotte would've liked to have, basically a growing and loving family. She's the one Dame of Court she's not so close to, but her family's reputation is solid and good, so Charlotte allows her to keep the title.
RIVALS
Agatha Danbury — Mayfair's Apothecary
Charlotte's former closest friend. Agatha was also arrenged to marry someone she didn't know, so their friendship was founded in their mutual problems. Years of a mutual trust and a strong bonding were ruined when Charlotte accused Agatha of poisoning her silently for years by giving her abortive medicine that caused the death of her children. Now, Agatha Danbury is considered a public enemy, and an antagonist of the Crown.
Princess Augusta — Princess of England
Charlotte's mother-in-law. Augusta didn't liked her for the color of her skin, and she's always been precise when mentioning it. However, they found a mutual understanding when talkig about George III, so they merely deal with each other in silence.
