Colin Bridgerton is the third Bridgerton child and son. He is also the older twin brother of the Grand Duchess of Hastings, Daphne Basset.
History
Colin is the third child born out of the union of Viscount Edmund Bridgerton and Viscountess Violet Bridgerton. Being the third son out of eight, he became the spare to the spare. Aftet the death of his father, Colin became an emotional support for his younger siblings along with his twin sister, while the two oldest took care of the rest and their mother was healing.
Growing up as the third son, he feels aimless when compared to his older brothers, but since his twin sister got married the year before and, after some political negotiations and complex contracts, he found himself enjoying the new role he plays. Even if it conflicts with his passion of travelling.
Personality
Colin is outspoken and carefree, most of the time. He is also known for his charms and flirty nature, acting tougher and older than his age to reflects his older brothers. Colin doesn't exactly realise that he wears a propriety and polite mask in society, not until Penelope calls him out on it one day.
He is also very protective of his family, especially his younger sisters and his mother, being very close to them. Especially his twin sister. And all of this triggers his hatred against injustices, sometimes becoming too much, just like the rest of his emotions.
The thing is that, behind the charm, there's also a far sensitive side that it was hard for Colin to show.
Relationships
ROMANTIC
Penelope Whistledown — Dame Penelope
Colin, when he first met her, found her intriguing. Placing all the pieces of a puzzle together, the answer led to the tiny ginger beauty, and it made him interested of her ways. In her transition to becoming a lady of the highest Tonne, Colin ends up more intrigued and drawn to her. He wants to uncover her secrets, and, most of all, make the attraction he has for her reciprocated.
Marina Thompson — Miss Thompson
Colin's fiancé, although there are no feelings involved, and both of them are aware of it. Marina was chosen to be his bride due to being a favorite debutante for the Queen on her first season out. Now, three years after, she was arranged to marry him. They are friendly enough around each other, but Marina has never shown such enthusiasm in his presence and, well, Colin wanted more than just a superficial relationship.
Colin's younger twin sister. As the third and fourth born, they grew up attached at the hip, being each other's confidantes, even though they have clashing personalities mostly. Still, they were also the separator from the two eldest to the four youngers, becoming the bridge between the two groups most of the time. The family was really close overall, but there's just something more when you share a womb at the same time.
Benedict Bridgerton — Earl of Luton
Colin's older brother and closest in age. He is as close to Benedict as he is close to Daphne, especially when the topic is to mess with Anthony's sanity. Benedict sees Colin as his baby brother, just like Gregory, due to the big gap between their ages. They usually give each other support and advice when they need, and since the gaining of their titles, they have been closer in that regard.
Anthony Bridgerton — Duke of Kent
Colin's eldest brother. Anthony is stubborn and thickheaded, even when he is just trying to help. Colin and him used to argue a lot, especially because he proves to be tough when seeing other visions besides his own. However, he was also great help when Colin received his new title, creating a stronger bond between them.
Violet Bridgerton — Dowager Viscountess
Colin's mother. Often known as the base of the family. She did her best to raise her children almost on her own when husband died. However, she is most thankful for his presence in trying to make her heal, constantly praising him for being the most like his father.
Eloise Bridgerton — Dame Eloise
Colin's younger sister. They have a long story of banther with each other, the classic sibling dynamic. However, since Penelope's arrival and their close bond with the girl, they become closer, finding out they have more in common than just their banther-filled relationship.
Francesca Bridgerton — Miss Bridgerton
Colin's younger sister. Apart from Daphne, she is the one he is probably closest to. Francesca grew up with Colin as the closest source of comfort and safety, so she admires and shares her secret with him all the time. Whenever she needs advice, she goes straight to him, even if her closest sister is Eloise. Now that she is getting ready to join society like her sisters, she is leading onto him even more.
Hyacinth Bridgerton — Miss Hyacinth
Colin's youngest sister. She is the one their mother claim to be most alike to him, and he helps feed this. Hyacinth is curious and interested in anything that can give her entertainment, and that inclusdes her elder brothers and their fun-filled life because of High Society. She claims Colin as her favorite brother because of how much fun he is when spending time with her.
FRIENDSHIPS
Simon Basset — Grand Duke of Hastings
Colin's brother-in-law and friend. At the beginning, Simon admitted to seeing him as a child, but his mind changed after the way he saw Colin being protective of his wife, Daphne, gaining a new layer of respect for the man. Colin thought Simon to be too much like Anthony in the beginning, thinkig him the wrong choice for his sister, but Simon made sure to change his mind. Now, they both bond over the future and purpose.
Albion Finch — Official Finch
He is an official to the Crown, working close to the three brothers. However, since the kingdom is passing through a peaceful period lately with the exterior, he ends up being used in internal conflicts, and gained a proximity with Colin to his constant request to keep an eye on Penelope. At first, Albion found the task tedious and boring, but since he met Philippa, he is quite eager to accompany the girl as long as it leads him back to her.
RIVALS
Alfred Debling — Royal Physician
Colin has never been close to Debling, not even like his attitudes at most. He always had an eerily calm that unsettled Colin, almost like a veil for something creepy. Colin always used a mask in society, so he considered himself quite capable of figuring out what everyone else had hidden under their surface. Debling was the perfect example of this, and it did not help the moment he appeared to be too close to Penelope.
Prince Friedrich — Prince of Prussia
Colin thought Friedrich to be friendly enough, however, during a conversation, they found out they had the same interest in a certain someone, making Colin change his mind. They are neutral at best, but when it comes to the attention of Penelope, they quickly become a little bit hostile to each other, even if keeping things cordial still.
