Eloise Bridgerton is the fifth Bridgerton child and second daughter. She is also one of the Dame of Courts to the Duchess of Hastings, Daphne Basset, her elder sister.
History
Eloise is the fifth child born out of the union between Viscount Edmund Bridgerton and Viscountess Violet Bridgerton. She has yet to debut in the marriage mart, occurring on the season of 1814. To prepare for her debut, her elder sister gave her the Dame of Court title and Eloise is expected to marry as soon as possible, even sooner than her elder brothers if possible.
Personality
Eloise is more interested in books than in marriage, her curious and talkative nature not letting her settle for only one definition of anything. She is optionated and decisive, oftentimes sounding arrogant if one doesn't know her perfectly.
Relationships
ROMANTIC
Phillip Anderson — Mayfair's Apothecary
Phillip first meets Eloise when she ends up arriving with Penelope during one of her visits. It ends up that they had actually met through correspondence. One of his many letters he sent Penelope ended up in Eloise's hands and she started answering them with her curiosity and questions. Phillip was surprised that his sister didn't even know, but he found her interesting, ending up developing feelings for her. However, he believes their union impossible due to their different backgrounds.
Eloise's elder brother. They have a long story of banther with each other, the classic sibling dynamic. However, since Penelope's arrival and their close bond with the girl, they become closer, finding out they have more in common than just their banther-filled relationship.
Daphne Basset — Grand Duchess of Hastings
Eloise's elder sister. Eloise is almost an antitheses of Daphne, yet they grew up as close as she was with Colin. However, when Daphne's attention became to the marriage mart, while Eloise's attention became to books and knowledge, they drifted apart. Of course they still love each other, and Daphne is extremely protective of Eloise, deciding to turn her into a Dame of Court in her debut season to see if the marriage mart becomes a little more agreeable to her.
Benedict Bridgerton — Earl of Luton
Eloise's elder brother. She is the one he's closest to, because often both of them feel like outsiders. Eloise with her lack of wish of marriage, and Benedict with his hidden desires he isn't even allowed to work on. They have a close relationship, with Benedict being the only one who knows about how Eloise is a smoker, for example.
Anthony Bridgerton — Duke of Kent
Eloise's elder brother. By far, his relationship with Eloise is the most... Complicated. Eloise is politically conscient and socialized, thus having strong opinions and constantly sharing them. For a man, they don't strike him so much, but as a brother, it worries him if the wrong people hears it, preoccupied her thoughts are far too radical. Being stubborn herself, Eloise doesn't understand his protectiveness and they tend to argue a lot.
Violet Bridgerton — Dowager Viscountess
Eloise's mother. She is a force of nature, often reminding Violet of how she was when they had the same age. Now, her personality being shaped to be a mother sometimes conflict with Eloise's progressist and strong one. Still, Violet loves her children equally and she is proud that her daughter doesn't stick to the norms.
Francesca Bridgerton — Miss Bridgerton
Eloise's younger sister. They share a birthday, even if one year apart. Therefore, much like Colin and Daphne, they often come as a pair of accidental twins. Francesca is someone who listens to Eloise, so she is the most special person for the Dame of Court. Eloise sees in Francesca a sisterhood that she only found in one other person, and she's not even from her family.
FRIENDSHIPS
Penelope Whistledown — Dame Penelope
She is a fellow Dame of Court and, even though they are from different social classes, Eloise becomes a great companion for Penelope, especially during the lady's time in training to become a Dame of Court herself. They constantly bond over books and society observations.
