Phillip Anderson is the eldest adopted child of Soma Anderson. He is also the adopted brother of Penelope Whistledown and biological younger brother to George Crane.
History
In 1794, Betty and Thomas Crane welcomed another boy to the family. However, after giving birth Betty became gravely sick, including hallucinations. In one of those hallucinatic episodes, she ended up cofessing her infidelity to her husband, who left her to die in a secluded house, refusing to give any help or assistance.
Believing his youngest child to be born out of an affair, he made it seem like Phillip was kidnapped with only a few months old, while giving the task of killing him to one of his footman. However, said footman ended up bringing him to Mayfair, where he left Phillip in the care of an Apothecary, who ended up being Soma Anderson.
She raised Phillip as her own, never telling him the grim truth behind him ending up there. However, all secrets are about to be unfolded the moment his younger sister, Penelope, got abducted. When it happened, Phillip wanted to go after her, but his mother changed his mind because she was certain that Penelope would soon come back. Besides, he was hesitant to leave her alone for so long.
Personality
Phillip is known in the neighborhood to be a little recluded and shy. However, he is just used to the quiet and peacefulness of his and his mother's house. Besides, as someone who yearns for knowledge, he spends a lot of time with plants, studying all the possible effects they can have, leading to a passion for poisons.
Phillip has a great objective of finding out the recipe for a potion of ressurection, something that can both numb the person so much she would pass as a corpse, even if still alive. Even though not very sociable, Phillip is still agreeable enough, enjoying the company of the people he already knows, even if he's a better listener than speaker.
Relationships
ROMANTIC
Phillip first meets Eloise when she ends up arriving with Penelope during one of her visits. It ends up that they had actually met through correspondence. One of his many letters he sent Penelope ended up in Eloise's hands and she started answering them with her curiosity and questions. Phillip was surprised that his sister didn't even know, but he found her interesting, ending up developing feelings for her. However, he believes their union impossible due to their different backgrounds.
Phillip's adoptive mother. She took him under her wing when he was just a baby, abandoned by his real family. Agatha noticed his curiosity and appreciation for plants and decided to raise him to be an apothecary as well, becoming a good team to this day.
Penelope Whistledown — Lady Penelope
Phillip's younger adopted sister. Basically neighbors since they were younger, Phillip and Penelope ended up becoming friends when she went exploring and got lost at the age of five. Phillip helped her get home, finding out where it was and constantly meeting her exploring again. Penelope was always out in hopes to find new things for her sister, always ending up lost in the streets in Mayfair. That's when he decided to take her to collect plants with him, and after finding out she could read and write, she became greater help in the future.
FRIENDSHIPS
Felicity Whistledown — The Third Princess, Macaria
Phillip's childhood friend. They aren't very talkative to each other, even though they are close enough thanks to Penelope. But since Felicity spent more time in the Muse House than outside of it, there wasn't much they could talk about. Still, he remembers how they used to play together when they were kids. When Penelope disappeared, Felicity was his steady companion, and they got a closer bond.
